Poster Design 2: Poster for Visiting Designer Lecture Series, California College of the Arts

Lars Muller asked if he could have the 7 ft. tall poster I created using photocopy enlargements and spray paint. The poster was installed at the entrance of California College of the Arts to announce his lecture. I was honored as he had to transport it all the way back to his home and studio in Switzerland

The projects I facilitate enable people to reflect on their own experiences in public space and culture. They are intended to address the relationship between aesthetics and social processes and to promote the collaborative action of interdisciplinary creativity. Participants develop the ability to communicate visually using art and design as a language that is socially meaningful and culturally critical.

This understanding can occur in the classroom in the education of students in a rigorous academic curriculum as well as through creative practices that serve society. These practices can create diversity of perspectives, experiences and traditions which are essential components of a quality education in our global context.

I am motivated by the opportunity to create lesson plans and educational models that use art and design to engage learning, and explore a diversity of content, pedagogies, and approaches.
